Relationships in a World of Individualism

  • rWorld

The rWorld is about more than Dale Kuehne's book Sex and the iWorld.
The rWorld is a New England based, non-profit (in formation), that is composed of a growing number of people and organizations from many faith and ideological backgrounds worldwide. We believe that much of the fulfillment for which women and men are looking can be found by enhancing the quality of our relationships. While the individual freedom we enjoy in the West is a gift, the love and intimacy for which humans yearn will not be found in self-serving materialism or hedonism, but in a variety of healthy relationships.

In this blog I'm highlighting signposts of the world in which we presently reside as a means of helping promote a civil, and meaningful dialogue about what kind of world in which we wish to live. I am particularly interested in exploring how might we reconcile the individual good and the common good, and where reconciliation isn’t possible, which should take precedence and why.

Jesus: the Candy Cane Legend (No Joke)

Posted by Dale Kuehne on November 28, 2010

There is a reason for the season and this is NOT it.

Today marks the beginning of Advent.

Thank God.

Because no matter what you may think of Jesus of Nazareth, he is not a candy cane legend and he did not come to make the world safe for candy canes.

Advent is not about buying presents or making dreams come true.

Advent is to Lent what Easter is to Christmas; a time of prayer and fasting in preparation for the celebration of Christmas.

And in order to help myself to prepare for Christmas and all of us to embrace Advent, I have asked my rWorld partner, Simon Fowler, to do a 30 days series of Relational Living that will take Signpostings to 2011.

Signpostings and the rWorld is about more than me.

It also about a lot more than Candy Cane Legends.

Thank God.

Welcome Simon Fowler into your life, beginning Monday Nov. 29th.

May he help us understand the true meaning of Christmas by helping us to learn how to live Advent.
